Open-call auditions for "THE RUSSIAN MUSICAL"  for  performers ages 9+
will be held on WEDNESDAY, February 15th, 2012 at 6pm at
Heartland Players Theater.
(33994 Avenue E. Yucaipa)

A marvelous, colorful, witty comedy!


All persons auditioning should be ready to read from the script. (scripts will be provided) and
to sing 16 bars with a cd accompaniment. Sound system will be provided.

Please be ready to list all potential conflicts.

Rehearsals begin March 5th, M T W Th evenings.

The Cast includes roles for male and female actors, AGES 9 AND UP. THERE WILL BE
NON-SINGING ROLES AVALIABLE

All cast members will be expected to donate $25

IVAN - the clever farmer (age 16 - 25)
MARUSIA - Ivan's talkative wife (age 16 - 25)
OKSANA - the nosy neighbor (age 12+)
NINA - baker's daughter (age 9+)
LENA - candle-stick maker's daughter (age 9 +)  
KATYA - smart and witty sister of Ivan (age 14 - 24)  
ELIZAVETA GRIGOROVNA - the rich heiress (age 16 - 25)  
OLGA GRIGOROVNA - Elizaveta's mother (age 30+)  
DIMITRI STEPANOVICH - the young duke (age 18 - 27)  
SPIRIDON STEPANOVICH - Dimitri's father (age 35+)  
ROKSANAVITA - Elizaveta's high-brow cousin (age 15+)  
GALINA - first maid to Roksanavita (age 12+)  
VAKYLA - jealous maid (age 12+)

BASIC PLOT:
A farmer finds a bag a gold deep in the forest; but he can't claim the bag with out compromising
his reputation, so he puts beagles in the trees, fish in the grass and a rabbit in the stream to prove
to his talkative wife, who will tell all the charming town folk that the gold came from "enchanted"
woods. His sister is the hand-maiden of the wealthy heiress who has an ancient feud with her
handsome neighbor, the young duke. In attempt to meet the duke and escape the company of her
stuck up cousin, the heiress disguises herself as a peasant and steals the heart of the duke while
the entire household staff is in disarray due to her escapes in the woods. A delightful, colorful
musical that blends true Russian culture with melodramatic theater.
